A screenshot of a sample Etoys Project is on the right.
The image shows a typical Etoys project: It contains some graphics (the road, the car), and a tile script (in the rectangle), which controls the movement of the car. The script is started by clicking on the round icon, described as "Press to toggle the ticking state".
For more sample Etoys projects, please refer to Etoys home, the Squeakland site.

Etoys Users, Teachers and Students: Download or Install Etoys
As of 2008, Etoys are distributed under Apache and MIT Licence. See Etoys license information.
| Download and Install Etoys For Windows, Apple OS X, and Linux, download Etoys from Squeakland. Click on the link and install Etoys on your system. Etoys are represented by a shooting star icon, which should appear on your desktop. |
| Linux specific Please note that the Linux downloads on Squeakland are generic installers. If your favourite Linux distro has Etoys available, it is probably better to use the version from your distro. The Etoys community will work with Linux distros to provide the best distro native packaging. Currently, several distros distribute Etoys as part of the Sugar system.
|
| OLPC XO Sugar specific If you use OLPC XO with the default Sugar operating system, Etoys are preinstalled. Once you start the XO, click on the Shooting Star icon in the circle menu. |
